Meet Däch’äw, the official mascot of the Whitehorse 2020 Arctic Winter Games!

The name Däch’äw comes from the Southern Tutchone word for porcupine.

Däch’äw is formidable on one side, like Yukon athletes, and warm and cuddly on the other, like Yukon hosts.

As a Games Ambassador, Däch’äw can be found travelling around Whitehorse as well as other Yukon communities, promoting the spirit of the Arctic Winter Games.

To request a visit from Däch’äw at your event, please fill out the form below.

Initially illustrated by 12-year-old Whitehorse resident Owen McDonald, Däch’äw was chosen as the winning submission from nearly 40 entries depicting suggested mascots for the Games.

All of the submissions in the mascot contest are currently on display at the Yukon Arts Centre in the Youth Gallery.
